On the QT

After a year of work, the Julian Backcountry Quilt Trail has become a reality!  Phase 1 applications closed May 15 and we have seven approved submissions.  Several applicants plan to paint their own blocks; we will be painting four, including the Julian Woman’s Club block (shown above).

Our committee and other volunteers will be painting at Barbara DeGraw’s;  if you are interested in participating or just observing, give Merry Jo Rembold or Barbara Mitchell a call for scheduling information.  If you are planning to make a quilt block for your own home, consider painting with us—it will be fun!  Installations will begin as soon as the painting is completed, probably the second or third week of June.

At our next meeting, copies of the block designs and locations will be shared.  Incidentally, Barbara DeGraw has painted a second block for her property, a stunning Mariner’s Compass.

We anticipate even more interest as the press reports on the installations, so keep in mind that Phase 2 applications will have a deadline in late August for installation in September.   We know of at least three probable applicants so far.

As a committee, we will spend our summer working on development of our website, brochure information and expansion of the JBQT into other communities.
