Quilting is a special passion for many of the Julian Woman’s Club members. The Julian Woman’s Club Heritage Quilt Show will be held this year from June 25 to July 4, 2017. The quilt show is open to the public and free of charge.
The quilts on display range from antiques to quilts made by children and experienced local quilters. The range of styles and colors and patterns is dazzling. Visitors from around the world come to see the show and they vote for their favorite quilt. The quilter who wins the “Viewers’ Favorite” ribbon has bragging rights for the coming year.
A Country Store will be set up during the Heritage Quilt Show and we will sell quilts and boutique items hand-made by club members.
The Quilt Opportunity Drawing is an amazing annual event. A dozen club members come together to create a stunning quilt. The quilt is designed by Eleanor Burns and she supervises the sewing in her studio in Julian. Raffle tickets are sold for $1 each or 6 tickets for $5. The drawing for this fabulous quilt is held on July 4th after the annual Julian Independence Day Parade.
Funds raised by the quilt raffle and Country Store sales help support the club’s many philanthropic projects, including high school scholarships, programs for children and local organizations such as the Historical Society and Friends of the Library.
